I’m so glad you liked it. It sounds to me like your crust needed a date or two more- sometimes dates vary in size or age, so it could have been that yours were a teensy bit elderly and dry. 😀 I think ideally it is served slightly thawed on the counter for a few minutes, but still very cold.

This is sooo yummy! And brilliant to accomodate paleo/gluten free diets. Only trouble I had- can you serve this room temperature? or just frozen ideally? And my crust crumbled a little bit, just try it with more dates next time?

Hi Shannon- If you want to keep it dairy free, I think you’re out of luck. If you are okay with dairy, sub in melted butter!

Not only was it adored by the vegan/gluten-free/refined sugar-free contingent, but many others said it was their favorite! With five other pies (including grapefruit chess, cherry cream cheese, and banana cream), that’s no small feat! Love this recipe, love your site!
